Walking - Jurassic Coast & Beyond

Beer sits directly on the South West Coast Path - England's longest National Trail and one of the most dramatic coastal footpaths in the world. The village is an extraordinary base for walkers of every ability, from short clifftop strolls to multi-day routes along the 95-mile Jurassic Coast.

Beer to Branscombe (South West Coast Path)

One of the most iconic short walks on the entire Jurassic Coast. The route descends via the extraordinary Hooken Undercliff - a section of coastline that collapsed in a single night in March 1790, creating a magical landscape of chalk pinnacles.

Beer to Branscombe Full Village Walk (National Trust)

A National Trust circular walk passing the historic Forge, the Old Bakery serving cream teas, and Manor Mill before descending to Branscombe Beach and returning along the East Cliff.

Beer to Seaton (South West Coast Path)

Head east with views back over Beer Head's chalk cliffs and forward across Seaton Bay. Combine with the Seaton Tramway for a one-way route with return by tram.

A deeply rewarding section passing through beautiful Branscombe before ascending to Beer Head for spectacular panoramic views. Start in Sidmouth and finish with an ice cream in Beer.

Beer to Lyme Regis (South West Coast Path)

Head east along rugged clifftop paths to the famous fossil-hunting town of Lyme Regis. A spectacular day's walking along one of the most dramatic sections of the Jurassic Coast.

  • · The South West Coast Path is well-signed throughout
  • · Mobile reception can be poor in Branscombe valley
  • · Always check tide times before coastal walks
